Custom world generation you can design yourself
Iris replaces Minecraft's world generator with JSON packs you can edit and share. Install a ready-made pack for overhanging cliffs, floating islands and rivers that end in waterfalls, or build your own. Iris Studio opens a test world beside VS Code, which suggests and explains every field. Each save regenerates new terrain, and a map window previews biomes, rivers and noise in 2D and 3D.
What a pack can build
Terrain and water
Studio
Closing a Studio world deletes the world and keeps your pack.
Commands and permissions
Commands
Aliases: /ir and /irs for /iris
Permissions
Add center=me to pregenerate around yourself. A pack update takes world=, pack= and confirm=true. Tree felling works in survival once the server turns it on.
Compatibility and limits
Runs on: Paper, Purpur, Leaf, Folia, Canvas, Spigot
Minecraft: 26.1.2 to 26.3 on Java 25
Optional: PlaceholderAPI, WorldEdit, Multiverse-Core
The plugin works without the client mod. Players who want it install the Fabric, Forge or NeoForge jar on their own client.

- Platforms Replacing an existing world needs a Paper-family server, and so does async pregeneration. The same engine also ships as Fabric, Forge and NeoForge mods for 1.21.1 and 26.1.2 to 26.3.
- Integrations Packs can place content from Nexo, ItemsAdder, MythicMobs and seven other plugins. PlaceholderAPI gets biome, region and pregeneration placeholders.
- Languages English plus 17 translations. Set one for the server or let each player pick.
- Network Downloads libraries on first start and checks GitHub for plugin and pack updates. Packs and languages are fetched only when you ask. Debug reports upload to mclo.gs unless you add upload=false.
- Limits Pack edits and updates only affect chunks generated afterwards. Pregeneration does not resume after a restart. Players cannot join until startup checks finish.
The plugin works without the client mod. Players who want it install the Fabric, Forge or NeoForge jar on their own client.
- Pregeneration HUD on H with progress and time left
- A biome map on M that you can pan and zoom
- Overlay on J with the biome, region and height you aim at
- A notice when a Studio save reloads or fails
