VIP Plugins BuildSystem [1.8-1.21]
Version: 4.1.0
Likely safe
- Author ArteffCods
- Creation date
4.1.0 can keep worlds, folders and players in a database, adds world namespaces on Paper, supports Minecraft 26.3 and reworks how backups are taken and restored. It also fixes a long list of bugs from 4.0.0. Several of them lost data: the spawn, deleted folders, player settings and archive inventories. There are no API signature changes, so plugins built against 4.0.0 keep working.
Requirements: Java 25 and Minecraft 26.1 or newer, tested up to 26.3.
Back up your server before upgrading. config.yml moves to config version 7 on the first start, and the old file is kept as config.yml.v5.bak. Upgraded servers keep their YAML files until you choose a database. The jar is now about 8.6 MB, because the PostgreSQL and MongoDB drivers are bundled.
Highlights
Database storage: Worlds, folders and player settings can be kept in SQLite, MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL or MongoDB, as well as in YAML. New installs use SQLite. /buildsystem storage migrate <type> copies everything over and switches without a restart. Connections support TLS, and passwords can come from environment variables. Every server needs its own table prefix or database. Guide: Data Storage
World namespaces: On Paper, worlds can live in their own namespace, such as maps:lobby. Type namespace:name in any command that takes a world. A bare name still works as long as only one world has it. world.default-namespace decides where new worlds go. Existing worlds stay where they are.
Minecraft 26.3: Built against 26.3 and still runs on 26.1 and newer. Creating or importing a Nether world on 26.3 no longer stops halfway.
Backups and restores: Restores run in the background and then the backup takes the world's place. If that fails, the old world and its players are put back. Local restores work again, the first S3 or SFTP backup after a start no longer fails, and worlds over 2 GB can be backed up remotely. A failed backup no longer deletes an old one.
One operation per world: Delete, rename, restore, unimport, backup, saving a template and download packing no longer overlap on the same world.
Who sees whom: Join, world change and hide players follow one rule. BuildSystem no longer reveals players another plugin hid.
Sounds and icons: Each sound belongs to one kind of action, and most are quieter. Several world editor and game rule icons are easier to tell apart.
Added and changed
storage.s3.path sets where world downloads go in the S3 bucket.
Default game rules are set when a world is created or imported, not on every load. Changes made in the world editor now stay.
Old 2.x and 3.x game rule names are folded into the current ones, so advance_time and spawn_mobs work again on upgraded configs.
A syntax error in config.yml stops startup instead of resetting the file. A broken statuses.yml or categories.yml stops startup instead of being replaced with the defaults.
Placing, breaking and the block-click settings follow one set of build rules. These settings no longer refuse admins in archived worlds.
Updates are checked against GitHub releases, in the background and at most once an hour.
Renaming moves the world folder instead of copying it, so it is instant on large worlds.
Typing cancel in a world editor chat prompt goes back to the menu.
Fixed
Archive inventories: Quitting or crashing in an archive world no longer loses the real inventory. Leaving archive mode no longer leaves players invisible.
Lost data: A data file that cannot be read is kept as a copy and never saved over. The spawn survives restarts, deleted folders stay deleted, and player settings, generators and unknown statuses or icons are no longer overwritten.
Server freezes: Player heads in menus and the layout editor load in the background, and so do template copies when creating a world.
Templates: Saving a template pauses autosave and holds the world, so templates no longer contain half-written region files. A world being copied from a template can't be imported halfway.
Importing: /worlds import with a plugin generator works, and /worlds importAll accepts -g and -c. Flags ignore case, and a world named c, g or t is no longer read as a flag.
Permissions: /physics all, /day and /night now check permissions properly.
Building and teleports: Fixes for disable interactions, slab breaking, cave air, WorldEdit after //world and after /reload, custom blocks placed despite protection, and landing in mid-air.
Navigator: Changing world with the armour-stand navigator open, or a crash while it is open, no longer leaves players unable to walk, with jump boost and the barrier item.
/worlds help lists backup and folder, and shows each command's real arguments.
Plus many fixes to menus, unloading, config typos and placeholders.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed World Rename: Renaming a build world no longer causes its folder reference to become out of sync.
- Fixed Backup Service: The backup service now correctly reloads on plugin initialisation, preventing backups from silently not running after a reload.
